Gamesmaster Report for January 2016

There were some fantastic captures by club members over the Christmas break with quite a few entries into the monthly competitions. Jason Heller took out the inshore competition with a combined length of Whiting, Bream and Pike measuring 115cm, taking home the $100 voucher. The offshore species was mackerel and Jason’s effort of 125cm proved to be the best. The Fish of the Month was won by Paul Tamis daughter Molly who landed a 69cm Flatty on South Straddie recently, which almost pulled the rod into the water.

The club is pleased to announce that Gold Coast Fishing Tackle will be supporting the upcoming Mangrove Jack comp by donating the prize for the biggest jack caught on the day. The event will be run out of the VMR next to SeaWorld on Sunday 28th February. Registration from 4.15am. Teams will try and capture 3 mangrove jack throughout the morning, photograph and release the fish. The best combined total will take home the cash! Dan Hickey from Switchbait is also donating champion shirts for the winning team to proudly show off.

The clubs next event will be the Easter Mackerel comp, to beheld on Good Friday, 25 March 2016. Provided the new ramp and clubhouse are open, the competition will start and finish from there. More details to come out very soon so watch this space.

The Inshore species for February is Trevally and for offshore Marlin is the target. Entries to [email protected]
