President’s Report – February 2025

I hope this report finds you well as we kick off another exciting year at the Gold Coast Sportfishing Club.

January Club Night Recap

We had a fantastic start to the year with our January Club Night, easing back into our monthly meetups and catching up with familiar faces. The committee took the opportunity to update members on some important club developments, including our Flathead Classic plans and upgraded digital ecosystem.

Digital Ecosystem Overhaul

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving club operations, we engaged Evolve Technologies to conduct an external audit of our digital systems. Their report highlighted areas that needed streamlining, particularly in our email and website hosting services. This process led to the removal of outdated historical data and the implementation of future-proofed programs that enhance transparency and simplify committee transitions. We are now in the final phase of this upgrade, with all committee members using new email addresses.

Financial Audit

Our Treasurer Grant has finalised our financials, and we are now in the middle of an external accounting audit. We look forward to releasing the Club’s financial report in the coming weeks, providing full transparency to our members.

AGM Announcement – March Club Night

We are currently finalising the date for our Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is expected to take place during our March Club Night. The AGM is an important time for our Club, marking a transitional period for the committee, and we encourage all members to attend and support the event.

2025 Flathead Classic – Sponsorship Release Coming Soon

We are thrilled to announce that our 2025 Flathead Classic sponsorship package has been revised and updated. Following the incredible success of our 30th Anniversary event in 2024, we are raising the benchmark for fishing competitions. The new sponsorship opportunities will be released in the coming weeks, and we can’t wait to share them with our community.

All Species Classic – Rescheduled for This Weekend

Due to bad weather in January, our All Species Classic was postponed but is now set to run this weekend. The Games Master team is actively monitoring offshore conditions and will continue to provide updates throughout the week to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all competitors.

If you haven’t entered yet, now is the time! We are excited to have some awesome sponsors on board for this competition:

ATOMIC – Flathead & Whiting

FISH EAGLE LURES – Marlin & Wahoo
