Get excited 40 sleeps to go!

Can you believe August is almost over, where has this year gone! As I write this it is only 40 sleeps until the Gold Coast Flathead Classic. So it is time to say Let the Flatties begin!

I know many of you have already been out chasing a few lizards and over the last few weeks quite a few have started to show. The preference for many early in the season is to rustle them up trolling however over the last few weeks good numbers have started to come on plastics. So where will the fish be come the first week of October? I just hope wherever they are there are plenty around.

If you are not registered yet you need to be quick places are filling fast. If you have never fished a comp before this tournament  is not just for the experienced. The fun and fish cater for all levels of ability. We welcome Juniors, Families ,newbies everyone is welcome and you are guaranteed to have a great time. The Classic is a must fish event and now is in it’s 19th year. Many of us who came along once to test the waters and are still returning many years later because it is such a great event.

So where are we as far as the organisation for the Classic goes? The bnig challenge is this economic climate is the attraction of sponsorship and this has been a year long campaign. Sponsors keep this comp alive and we thank each and every sponsor that has come on board for the Classic. As you would be aware many of our sponsors come back year on year and we certainly appreciate your ongoing support.

Wildcat BoatBlue Fin Boats is one such sponsor, this year sees in a new era for Blue Fin Boats who are under new ownership. Previous owners Maragaret and Alan decided it was time to chase a few fish rather than build boats and I believe they will be joining the field as competitors in 2012. The new team have taken some bold new steps with Blue Fin and we look forward to them unveiling a brand new model as the 2012 Prize Boat. the baot will be unveiled on the registration evening and the winner will be the very first owner of the model. We are told that the boat will be presented with a visual wrap and a number of optional extras, but the team are playing things close to their chest but promise  “it will be a great little package”  and I for one cannot wait to see it at our venue. The package will be teamed up with a great locally made trailer from the crew at Oceanic Trailers who have returned again in support of the Classic. The package will be powered by a Suzuki DF60 which will be fitted and supplied by White Water Marine and Suzuki.

Once again the tournie bag is looking good and will include some of the most popular Flathead tackle on the market along with a few new products.  Bozo Lures, DOA lures and ZMan are all back and you know how trusted that trio are when it comes to chasing the duskies. With the swing back to hard bodies lure fishing over the last year we have ensured ther are a few hardbodies of choice in there as well including  Strada, Diztek, Austackle and more.

Please support those sponsors who support ask and ask for the products to be stocked in your local tackle store.
