Launch Night success: Let the Flatties begin!

Another great night as we officially launched our 20th Anniversary Gold Coast Flathead Classic. A great crowd of 150 people gathered on what turned out to be a cool evening at Doug Burt’s Tackleworld.

The night was kick started by the ever enthusiastic Ken Thompson from Navico  who gave the rundown on all the latest gear and how to utilise the down and side scanning features. The team from Blue Fin Boats showcased 2 boats from their range including the model which will be this years prize boat the Wild Cat.

We were treated to hearing some tips and techniques by Flattie fishing gurus Michael Green and Doug Burt and we heard from a few of our sponsors including Marinonics and Bonza Graphics. Top this of with a great lucky door prize worth $150 and over 500 dollars in raffle prizes.

Many folk to the opportunity to lodge their entry forms and we will have an updated entry list on the webpage soon. To top the night of we ran our Top Gun Angler auction which is a feature of the Top Gun Flathead Comp which runs on Sunday 25th August from VMR (see other posts on our webpage for details*) The auction went off with the top dollar being raised by David Green at $500! Many of our top guns hit the $300 mark so I am sure they will be keen as to treat their bidders to a  good day fishing on the 25th. You can take on the top guns with your mates as this comp is open to all comers with teams of up to 3 people. Entry fee $80 per team including lunch. A great chance to hone the skills for the classic, and there have been some good showings of flatties around.
