Dash 4 Cash #2 Run and Won

The Dash for Cash anglers were treated with a cracker of a day which went against all forecasts. Whilst the field was only 14 boats strong the format of the comp means our winners still go home with a good stack of cash. Today our champion team was Anders Financial weighing in a 3.15 kg bag. Greg Byrne and Ben Cronk showed that it doesn’t take a high powered, big glass boat to win the Dash for Cash. Fishing from a nicely fitted out Blue Fin 4.3 Warrior the boys fished the areas around Sovereign and Crab Island to bag their fish, the pairing took home $1200 big ones along with the TT Lures/ZMan Big Bream prize pack worth $450.Team TT’s narrowly missed out on their third win in a row bringing back a 3.05 kg bag to the scales to take out second place Tracey Mammen and Darren Borg who fished the Seaway and then the Pin area finding their fish one by one. This seemed to be the story of the day for our anglers who reported having to move around to find their bag.

Half a Kilo behind our leading 2 teams were Team Atomic taking third place with a 2.05 kg bag, Aaron Sharp and team mate Joey Allen were lucky to take the water today blowing a radiator hose on the way to the comp. The boys hit the water 5 mins behind the field but this didn’t hold the team back.

It was great to welcome a few Dash for Cash new comers as well as introduce some newbies to Bream tournament fishing,It is always great to see new people join the sport. Some of our new club members fished their very first Bream comp, Team Evolution David Hyndman and Jade Durand just met a couple of weeks ago at what was their first night at the club and did very well to finish 8th, they were closely followed by Team Romano who were in their second ever comp.e. Overall all but one team caught their full bag of 5 fish and whilst the condition of the fish saw a few low scoring bags

A big thank you to the Volunteer Marine Rescue Southport who were our hosts today a great venue right by the waters edge with excellent facilities, a donation was made out of todays entries to VMR Southport. Also a thanks to our club member team of Bruce Anderson, Nathan Anderson, Christian Pulvirenti and Tamara Anderson for their assistance in running the event. TT Lures/ZMan plastics were once again our sponsors for the event donating our Big Bream prize packs thanks to Gareth and the team for their ongoing support of the Gold Coast Sportfishing Club. Alos thanks to ABT for their support of the event. That wraps up the Bream comps from the club for 2011 and we look forward now to the Gold Coast Flathead Classic, remember to check out details at www.flatheadclassic.com.au and stay tuned for a Dash for Cash Flathead post the Classic.
