What a Good Friday to be fishing the Austackle Easter Bream Classic: Results
A great day was had by 37 teams who fished the Austackle Easter Bream Classic. The fishing proved to be tough going for the teams with only 10 teams finding their bag of 5 Breambos. One of the features of this comp is the fact that juniors can fish and there were 11 Juniors in todays field which was great to see. Austackle ensured all our Junior walked away with a rod with some of the older guys getting the new Camo Stiks worth $159. Austackle didnt stop there with our first 30 teams registered today scoring themselves a Austackle lure pack worth $130.
Our winning team saw the pairing of Scott Butler and his nephew Jordan, fishing as Team Nitro Marine the two also scored biggest bream amongst a bag weighing in at 2.67. Scott is going to do a write up about his days fishing but in true style he stuck to his tried and tested canals around Shearwater and Sovereign Island to seek his fish and caught up to 30 legals for the day. Jordan got a great kick out of netting and measuring and fished hard all day and I am sure he will be one to watch in the future. In second place was team Far Canals who fished in the reaches of the Nerang River to find their fish and in 3rd Minnow who tried their luck in the canals and flats to get a bag. Our top 3 place getters all walked away with Lowrance sounders and a big thank you to Lowrance who are great supporters of our club.
The Easter Bream is a good comp for prizes with every team walking away with something. This could not happen with out the support of Austackle, Lowrance, Engel, Pure Fishing & Oxenford Bait & Tackle. Thanks to all our anglers who made it out on a great good Friday and of course a big thanks to the diehard clubbies and their families who get out and make these tournaments happen Steve Wilson, Bruce Anderson, Tracey Mammen, Danny Sands and Mike Cole thanks again team for a champion effort. Also thanks to the Volunteer Marine Rescue for hosting us again, you may have noticed our old club house has now been knocked down to make way for the new aquatic centre, you can now find us at the Southport Bathing Pavilions in the park jjust north of our old site. We meet on the second Thursday night of each month, this month our club night is at BCF Harbour Town. Our next event is the Dash for Cash Bream on June 9th and we hope to see you all there.
